JobXentral asks for your résumé and the job you are applying to. Both are personal information, so here is exactly where they go and what happens to them — in plain terms, not in a way that needs a lawyer to decode.
The short version
- There are no accounts. We do not know your name unless you type it into a document.
- Your résumé, your applications and your drafts are stored in your browser, not on our servers.
- When you use an AI feature, the relevant text is sent to an AI provider to produce that result.
- We do not sell anything to anyone, and we do not run advertising.
- Clearing your browser data deletes everything we hold about you locally.
What is stored in your browser
Almost everything. Your saved résumé, each application you start, your cover letters, interview practice, planner ideas and contact details all live in your browser's local storage under keys beginning jobxentral.
This is a real trade-off and you should know both halves of it: nothing is exposed on a server we run, but it also means your work does not follow you to another device or another browser, and clearing site data removes it permanently. We cannot recover it for you, because we never had it.
What is sent to AI providers
The AI features — reading a posting, estimating your match, tailoring a résumé, drafting a cover letter, building interview questions and grading answers, and writing LinkedIn material — run on large language models operated by third parties. To produce a result, we send the model the text it needs for that step. Depending on the step, that can include:
- the job posting you pasted, or text fetched from a posting URL you gave us;
- your résumé text;
- answers you type during interview practice.
The providers currently in use are Anthropic and Google. They process this text to return a result to us. We do not send them your browser storage, and we do not send them anything you have not put into a feature that needs it.
What we keep on our side
Each AI call is recorded on our server so we can diagnose failures, measure cost and catch abuse. That record includes the text sent to the model — which means it can contain résumé text — plus timing, cost, and which model answered.
Cookies
One cookie, jbx_anon. It holds a random identifier, contains nothing about you, cannot be read by scripts on the page, and exists so that one visitor cannot exhaust the shared AI budget for everyone else. Full detail on the cookie page.
There is no analytics, no advertising and no third-party tracking on this site.
Deleting your data
- Everything, from inside the product: Settings → Delete everything removes every résumé, application, cover letter, interview and planned post from this browser and clears the anonymous cookie. Take a copy first if you want one — the same page exports the lot as a JSON file.
- Or from your browser: clearing site data for jobxentral.com does the same to the stored work, though it also clears anything else this site holds.
- Server-side run records: because there is no account, we have no reliable way to link a run record back to you on request. This is the honest limit of an anonymous product, and it is the main reason a fixed deletion window matters.
Your rights
If you are in the EU or UK, the GDPR gives you rights over personal data about you, including access, correction, deletion and objection. Because JobXentral holds no account and no identifier that points to you as a person, we usually cannot tell which data is yours — which limits what we can act on. If you believe we hold something identifying you, write to us and we will do what we can.
AI and decisions
JobXentral does not make hiring decisions and is not used by employers to screen you. The match figure it shows is an estimate produced by comparing your résumé against one posting. It is a coaching aid, not a prediction of any outcome, and every AI-generated line is labelled as such and editable by you before it goes anywhere.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes materially, the date at the top changes with it. Questions about anything here: privacy@jobxentral.com.
